Heaton Cricket Club
Summary of Development Plan for  2008/09

Aims
The aim of Heaton Cricket Club is to be recognised as one of the best local clubs in Lancashire. We have long term plans to meet this aim by increasing and improving our facilities, enhancing and developing playing and management personnel and continuing to improve standards.

Objectives
1) To develop all young cricketers to their full potential.
2) To strengthen senior teams.
3) To ensure that HCC is an integral part of the local community.
4) To encourage and promote cricket for women, girls, black and ethnic minorities and for disabled people.

Club Management
The club is staffed predominantly on a voluntary basis and is run by a management committee and a number of semi-autonomous sub groups who report up to the main management committee as appropriate.

Communication to and consultation with members is undertaken via the club website, the clubhouse notice board and by written or face to face contact on a personal level. Our performance against the development plan is reviewed quarterly and the annual review is undertaken by 30th September each year.
An annual general meeting is held in December each year where officers are elected/re-elected and annual financial results are provided.

During 2008/09 we intend to improve management of the club by targeting specific skill requirements and involving more junior members in the management processes.

Facilities
We will again supplement our outdoor playing facilities by the hire of indoor cricket nets at Bolton School and St Josephs School Horwich to facilitate winter coaching for senior and junior members and also as additional capacity for juniors during the summer pending our ground extension.

We will also host table tennis and rounders and provide social facilities for members as well as utilising the clubhouse and ground for special functions and for use by local residents.

Cricket Activities
We have two senior teams (First and Second ) who play in the Bolton League and a further senior team who play in a more social league throughout the season. We intend to strengthen our senior teams by ongoing development and coaching of senior players, appropriate recruitment of new talent and increasing the promotion and nurturing of talented youngsters into senior cricket. We will also seek to increasingly engage the club professional not only in a playing activity but also in a coaching role.

We have junior teams at U9’s,U11’s,U13’s,U15’s and U18’s who play in the relevant sections of the Bolton League and we also arrange friendly games to facilitate competitive cricket for as many young players as possible. These activities will be supplemented by junior coaching each Friday evening throughout the summer for all junior members.

In addition to developing all juniors we will also provide accelerated development for elite players including involvement in District, Inter league and County representation. Our facilities will be offered for use by local schools and we will be actively involved in promoting cricket in four primary schools (Church Road, Markland Hill, St Thomas of Canterbury and Devonshire Road) and two secondary schools (Smithills and Thornleigh College). Coaching sessions will be held in all these schools.

Long Term Developments
The above are the first steps in a 5 year plan to move the club forward. These plans include:

1) The acquisition of land adjacent to the club to provide more playing space, a dedicated training facility and other sports amenities.
2) Increasing  playing  management and social membership to meet our primary aim.
3) Increase the community participation in cricket, rounders and table tennis at the club and involve more parents and other interested people in social activities and helping to run H.C.C.
4) To continually increase the standards of all our activities by using Clubmark as a minimum standard and aspiring for H.C.C. to become the Benchmark standard in performance attitude and behaviour.
